Iran animation to be made with Hafez poems

Iranian animation is set to be made based on poems by Persian classic poet Hafez.

Iranian short animation themed on globally -renowned Persian poet Hafiz is set to be made soon.

The short directed by Motahareh Ahmadpour runs for five minutes, a media report said, quoting the animator as saying on Thursday that the animation is "anonymous at the moment.”

She also added that one more animations about unity is in developement.

The prolific Iranian animator has already made five-min animation ‘red point’ accepted in international festivals, including one in Italy.

Red Point’ is a classic 2D animated piece set in a surreal city, with strange creatures. Everything changes in the city when a red point appears.

Shams al-Din Muhammad Hafez is considered the definite master of Ghazal - a one-rhymed lyric poem. He was born in Iranian city of Shiraz in 1325/26 AD. Due to loss of his father, he was living a poor life but managed to become quite well-educated, fluent in both Arabic and Persian.

He memorized the entire Quran at an early age. The nick name 'Hafez' is given to those who can learn the entire Quran by heart. It is estimated that there are at least 1,000 known manuscripts of the Divan-e Hafez in Iran and other parts of the world.
